Online Innovator CentralNic Appoints New CEO

September 9, 2009, London/Los Angeles: CentralNic Ltd, an innovator in internet services since 1995, announced today the appointment of Mr. Ben Crawford as their new Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Board of Directors of CentralNic, its subsidiaries and joint ventures.

"Ben's track record leading rapidly expanding global businesses made him the ideal candidate for taking CentralNic to its next level of development," said CentralNic Chairman, Mr. John Swingewood.

Mr. Crawford said, "CentralNic is ideally poised for accelerated growth in all of its three business lines. Its heritage of successful innovation, expert staff, unique proven technologies, and worldwide network of registrars, all provide the ideal foundation for continued flourishing of the Global Registry Services business.

"CentralNic is also playing a leading role in the introduction of new Top Level Domains. Central Registry Solutions, our joint venture with Network Solutions, provides turn-key solutions empowering brand owners, governments and entrepreneurs to take advantage of the massive opportunity of owning a Top Level Domain, such as .coke, .tokyo or .blog."

"Thirdly, we are launching a portfolio of websites and online businesses including: emailme.com, which allows consumers to get the email address they really want; and a number of joint venture websites on our premium domains, like www.claims.com, www.cn.com in China and www.ru.com in Russia."

Ben Crawford has twenty years' senior management and Board experience in the global media, entertainment and technology sectors, getting his start online in 1996 supplying web content to Microsoft and MSN. His recent roles include: founding President, Louise Blouin Media in New York; Managing Director of SportBusiness Group in London; and Executive Producer of IBM's official website of the Olympic Games in Sydney. He is also a widely-published writer, most recently blogging for The New York Times.

Founded in 1995, CentralNic is a pioneer of the internet revolution, initially as one of the first registries of domain names. Its Registry Services division now manages 23 different suffixes — both first level domains such as .la and second level country codes (.uk.com, .us.com, etc. ) — sold through a global network of ICANN-accredited registrars including Network Solutions, eNom, Register.com, and Microsoft.

Board members of CentralNic include: CentralNic founder and executive, Robert Pooke; Jeremy Fenn, CEO of Mobile Tornado plc and formerly Chief Executive of Sports Internet plc when it was sold for over £301 million; technology strategist John Swingewood, former Director of New Media at BSkyB, and Director of Internet and Multimedia, and General Manager, Broadcast TV Services at British Telecom; and property investor and former television executive, Sam Dayani.
