System Administrator

CentralNic is the world’s largest provider of domain registry services for generic TLDs, including .xyz, .online, .website, .design, .bar, and .wiki, as well as ccTLDs such as .LA and .PW, and our own portfolio of domain extensions including .UK.COM.

CentralNic is seeking candidates for a position based in its City of London head office. The position is for a Systems Administrator, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer.

Skills Required

Knowledge of Unix/Linux system administration (specifically Red Hat Enterprise Linux/CentOS, and FreeBSD) is essential. Familiarity with the DNS and DNS servers such as BIND, NSD, PowerDNS, and DNSSEC are highly desirable, as is experience of monitoring and analytics tools such as Munin, Nagios and MRTG. Experience with configuration management systems such as Puppet is also extremely desirable, as is knowledge and experience of virtualisation using Ovirt, KVM, VMWare, Xen and other platforms.

You should be familiar with software such as Apache, Postfix, BIND and MySQL and the RPM package format.

Candidates must have effective communication and team-working skills, and excellent written and spoken English. Fluency in another language is also desirable.

Knowledge of software development in Perl, PHP, and/or C on Unix/Linux systems is also essential as you will be required to support and deploy applications written in these languages.

The Position

You will be a member of the team that develops and maintains CentralNic's domain name registry system, and the infrastructure that supports it. We maintain extremely demanding service levels on services operating at high levels of load. Your focus will be on application deployment, and system and network administration.
